 Re: the perfect sticks.
btw
i find that 5A's and 5B's feel different from company to company. Vic Firth 5A's aren't the same as Vater 5A's (at least when they're in my hands they seem different)
try a different brand of 5A sticks and see if you cant get that sweet spot

 Re: the perfect sticks.
Tip and taper make have a huge impact on how a stick feels and rebounds

 Re: the perfect sticks.
so i found some sticks that feel so perfect in my hands, better than anything i've tried. the only problem? they're crappy novelty sticks handed out at my school prom. they're not straight at all, and they have the biggest pitch difference ive ever heard. (plus they say "kv prom 08': rockin the night away". but the size is perfect. i gotta measure em with dial calipers and then compare to others to find out what size they come out to, if they do at all. and if they dont, what do i do?

I can't pay $10 a pair for 808s so I'm trying some Vater fusions

 Re: the perfect sticks.
Vater XD-5A - love em cause I was looking for the same thing as you. L 16 1/2" D .580" - a little longer and a little thicker then most 5A's

 Re: the perfect sticks.
Good idea. He'd still have to know the measurements he wants though

 Re: the perfect sticks.
55A Combines the dimensions of a 5A and 5B. A great choice when a 5B is just a little more stick than required. L=16", Dia.=.580"
Check it out on Vic's website. I've tried them and they feel exactly how they are described. But I went back to 5B anyhow.
