i'd say it depends on what kind of music you play. if you play speed metal or anything that requires fast double bass you'll probably love it. it does take some getting used to though. i just bought a new double kick set so i thought i'd upgrade to two of the single longboards, and i love them. i used to have a single kick set with the dw9000 double pedal and it was great, but i'd heard a lot of good things about axis from some pretty fast drummers. i dont know about the double pedal but im sure it will be almost the same. i would say it would definently be worth the money. plus the only other double pedal i would recommend buying would be the 9000's and they're not that much less then the axis double. if i remember correctly the 9000's are 499.99 and the axis is 599.99.

The Axis is 509.99. Never EVER buy Axis pedals from musiciainsfriend, they charge the most out of any website i have seen.

The Axis is a great pedal and definitely worth the $$$, but look into the Trick Pro 1-V before you buy (if you haven't already). I went from longboards to the Trick a year ago and it was one of the best decision I've made. I had reservations that they'd be worth the $$$, but they most definitely are. Something to consider....
