 Tommy Lee
I was just recently reminiscing Watching some old
Motley videos and during the "feelgood" era, his kick
looks massive, especially in the videos for Without You
and Don't Go Away Mad, etc.
Was that a 32" for his main kick? Or was he playing a 26"
and just sitting so low like he does? It just looks pretty big.
I know nowadays he uses a 26" as a main and some HUGE
one on the side. But i'm wondering about the old days

He uses a 32 kick in the dr.feelgood era and now he doesnt
use the big ginat bass drum at all cause i have pics when i went backstage
before the show and there was no kicker on the big bass drum he
just had a double kick on the 26' bass drum. I wonder why he dosent
use that bass drum??

I did a little Internet research, but not much. Thanks for
the info. i was always curious about that, being a drum nerd
and all.
I always thought the "feelgood" era kick was a little on the
big side to be simply a 26". You answered my Q.
And yeah, that big 32" he's got off to the side in his latest
set-up seems like it's just for show.

frum the DRUM! magazine article on him tommy said he uses a double pedal on the 26" kick because something about it sounds like crap or something. from what i remember, he uses the 32" for a different sound, kinda like accents.
