Post Trick Bigfoots, Axis longboards comparison
Well, my trick bigfoot finally came two days ago so I've had a chance to evaluate them a bit. Short version: Fansastic!

A little bit of background. I only play single bass, and have been using the Axis pedal for about a year and half now. I've never used any other pedals besides the longboards so I wouldn't be able to tell you how they compare to iron cobras etc...

I know there has been some mention of players having to get used the bigfoots, but it turns out that was not the case for me at least. I just mimicked the setup of my axis pedal in terms of pedal height, travel, and cam angle and played better pretty much right away! I guess the best description I could give is that they feel like my axis pedals, but better! They feel smoother, the travel is more linear, and certainly helped my double stroke and triple strokes when NOT using heel-toe. Heel-toe as compared to the longboard was pretty much the same. It could just be the way I play, as I generally like to keep my whole foot flat on the pedal, and do a hopping motion as I get to rest a lot this way, and also makes it easy to switch between heel-toes and singles.

If I play heel up, I usually slide my foot back and keep the toe on the 'sweet-spot', and this is where I noticed the biggest difference between the trick and axis. The travel was more linear, making the rebound more predictable and just easier for me to just bounce my leg and get into a groove.

I really appreciate the simplicity and build quality of the construction as well. It is definitely a notch above the Axis, and worth the price difference IMO. No need to have 4 different hex wrenches to adjust the pedal either.

The only thing I wish the trick pedals had were wider toe areas. Aside from that, I totally dig it.

I'd be happy to answer any questions people have regarding either pedals.

Thanks,

-Ken
