Has anyone used a Trick pedal. What did you think of it?

I plan to try them and the new magnetic pedal at NAMM.
I hope I hate the Trick, because it's way too expensive!

Well I checked this pedal out at the local drumshop.. well it isn't by far the best pedal I ever played, so I don't know what the hype is suspose to be. If your looking for a great pedal in the high price range try Axis, or DW 9000.. the others just below them are the Pearl eliminator, and the Tama iron cobra... all great pedals which most all pro's use. There is no magic pedal to make you play faster.. speed and technic come with practice.

They really dont play like a normal pedal. They get really tight right before the beater hits. They'd actually work fantastically with the Axis Sonic Hammers as beaters. They are amazing pedals though, the most direct pedal ever.

finally got to try the Trick pedals~
glad to find that they didn't excite me that much.
They certainly seem to be solidly constructed, and feel OK, but they
just didn't surpass what I'm used to with my Axis setup.

maybe they were having a tough day, but the booth staff wasn't very accomodating or helpful either, whereas the Axis folks were quite personable and friendlly.

The first time I played my TRICKS, I took them off the kit and put my Axis pedals back on. I really wasn't all that blown away at the first try.

I went back to them when I had the time to get them setup. It took about 2 hours to get the first pedal dialed in to the point where I could actually see a benefit over my Axis Pedals, and it was a rather pronounced difference. Once it was dialed in, the second pedal took a few minutes or less.

I think that in most cases it's hard to shift to another pedal once you're used to a fine pedal such as the AXIS. In reality, there's nothing really wrong with the AXIS product. It's really exceptional in its own right, so to expect a difference that could be considered "transformational" might be a little optimistic.

The real difference can be measured when comparing to an inferior product while considering an upgrade. Then it becomes a matter of justifying which of the superior products out there best suits your specific needs.

Now, the TRICK staff being less than supportive at the NAMM show... that's quite another story! If I were you, I'd send them a note suggesting they step-up the customer interaction because you were not impressed.

i played them at namm, the longboard model and the regular board and both were less than impressive. the longboard was laggy and heavy feeling. the regular (short board) was quicker but still a little heavy feeling. it felt that the way the beater was constructed made it too heavy for the pedal.
i'll stick with my axis pedals. the tricks look cool and are very well constructed but i think that axis are lighter. maybe it just wasn't setup like i want it but i think they are way too overpriced for how they play.
but then again Mike Terrana plays the trick and hes awesome.
