 trouble with toms.
i have a tama rockstar i think 04 model. anyway i like my head toms as flat as possible because i'm a quad player. but my drums are verry deep so they hit my bass. i dont like the way i have to reach when i mount them flat on a stand to the left of my drumset, i like them above my bass. is there anything i can do with the possition of my bass to help with this. i have a rack on the way but if my bass is in the way it wont help me.

You can 1) move your kick way out front, 2) move your toms up, or 3) angle them a little.
If you set the toms up to the left, the kit should be set up like you're playing with two kicks. That puts the toms right in front of you.

when i had deeper toms, i'd angle my kick the same way you would if you had two bass drums. i could then place my tom exactly how i wanted it.
aside from getting a shallower tom, that's pretty much the only option you have.

Here get some tom mounts that attach to your cymbal stands!

put your snare between your legs, then where your leg naturally falls, place your kick there. then your toms. basically build your kit around your snare, get the toms away from the kick.

i would probably just set everything up a little higher. everything. that way its all in the same place and your toms dont hit the bass drum, that means heighten your throne too. the only thing that should be any different would be the angle in your legs. but thats just my solution, someone else may have a better one

It's a groove wedge. It's mountable on any snare my friend! they're awsome. It's for side stick. It gives a really focused and louder side stick tone. It's awsome. They're about 40 bucks. and you have to take the screws out of the lugs, and you put it on the rim over the holes ( it has mounting brackets ) and then screw it in. it fits like 12 to 15 inch snares. I think it's great. Some don't like it. I love it. PM me if you need more info.
