Post Turk Masters cymbals
I met Willy @ Cymbal Outfitters in Miami earlier this year, and he was able to set me up with some nice new handmade cymbals from Turkey.

He's just getting started, but he's got a line on some really cool gear.
He had the cymbals made to my specs, and I'm really digging them.
I used them for the last few shows we played before heading into the studio, and we'll be using them on the new album too.

If you feel like stopping by and saying hi, his prices are really good right now, and the cymbals are great.

they look a bit like Istanbul's "Turk" series don't they?

I haven't seen any Turk's in person to be able to judge-
Most of the ones they made for me are 'natural,' hammered, but not lathed. So they may be similar in that way.

They make anything you want though, so you just give them your recipe and they create it for you.

I'm finding the natural series to sound very dark and organic, rather than bright and shimmery.

I also got 3 from his 'brilliant' series, and they are quite impressive; I've shelved my Istanbuls (mehmet and sultan), Zildjians, Sabians, and Ufips for now, will be sticking with these for recording.

m: so you mean that you write them how you want the cymbal to sound like and they make it?

so far what I've done is to provide the gram weight, relative thickness, and style of hammering/lathing. I also got to try several in person when we played in Miami, that helped narrow it down.

I'm sure he'd be glad to talk to anybody who wants to check in with him at Myspace-

I'm planning on getting some more brilliant crashes soon, these things are EXPLOSIVE!

well, it's been a year since my last post and I'm still using the Turk Masters- we did all the drum tracks for our album with them.
They're holding up really well, and I'm adding to them a little at a time as I find a need for them.
I've got a china, 2 bells and 2 crashes on the way. It's been a lot of fun designing exactly what I want.

Very happy with the brand, kind of surprised he's not getting more attention yet. Guess he's taking it slow.
Anyone else out there check them out yet?
