 What do you guys think?
I don't think he gets near the respect he deserves. Check out this video. For those who don't know it's Mike Johnston. P.S. I think the intro is killer.

Mike Johnston is a pure bad-ass because he works his ass off. The man literally eats, sleeps, and breathes drums.
He was the drummer for Simon Says and spent a year on the road with Filter playing percussion. He then decided that the life wasn't for him so he came back to Sacramento to teach and continue learning.

Word. He's a real big influence for me. Any beat he plays just drips with funk. It takes alot of dedication to want to give up some pretty sweet gigs to teach. That's just love of the instrument, he's got my 'spect fo sho.

No doubt.
When I asked him about why he left he said that we tired of pointing at a tour bus when people asked him where he lived. He literally spent two and a half years on the road and away from his (now) wife. He said that they never set out to get signed, it just happened. Their biggest goal was to sell out the biggest local club. One of the coolest things about Mike is the he's a down-to-Earth, real guy, and had no problems talking about this.

Looks like it was probably one of his jazz and Latin clinics. More importantly, it's how he keeps a full 60 students at any given time.

I talked to mike yesterday and told him he's definitely been a huge influence on me, and alot of other drummers. He's absolutely and amazing drummer. And can only hope I'll ever get to that level of playing. He rocks. One of my fav drummers of all time. ( not to mention i wanna steal his kit )
