 why so few longboards?
why is no one else jumping on the longboard band wagon?
ive only seen axis and trick. i feel like this hsould be an option for every pedal company to offer in my opinion. do you think its a patent issue?

even if other companies such as tama or pearl came out with a longboard pedal, people would still flock to axis and trick just because of the name and already established popularity. It would be hard for it to take off for another company.

Pearl and Tama pedals sell more than Axis and Trick though.

true, true, in addition to that , i feel that a lot of business would be taken from axis and trick if they were cheaper than their longboards. Because Axis and trick are Notoriously high end pieces of equipment, the top line of the top of the line if you will. So every kid that just starts playing double bass (or bass in general) would have an option to grab that longboard action earlier for a cheaper price would jump on it i suppose.
as far as i look at it, theres three levels to the pedal world that most drummers follow...
start with dw 4002, good pdp's, IC juniors, the cheaper eliminators.
then theres eliminators, dw 5000s, iron cobras at the mid range (a lot of people stop here and are happy)
then people that really want the best go for the top dollar and invest in the best like axis and trick.
So i figure people wouldnt wait for the best (conceptual and design wise) if they could get a longboard type pedal to use earlier.
and on the patent issue, IDK because axis and trick have it...

i don't consider iron cobras to be midrange. world top drummers use the power glide, flexiglide and rolling glide and i am more than sure they can afford an axis or a trick pedal.

So is Trick the better buy? It seems as if they might have a slight advantage in durability.. If & when I wear my pedals out, I'd check into something that'll last until I'm dead. But I'd want a matching hi-hat stand and I don't think Trick does that - yet.

Theres a major debate on the issue because a lot of people reckon Trick are better designed than Axis and Trick pedals don't give in like some of the older Axis models.
But, as Zen and Bong both pointed out last night, DIFFERENTLY designed doesn't always mean better.
I would say it's probably even between the two and its down to a matter of which you prefer in feel and all the other little things you look for in a pedal
I picked Axis mainly because I haven't heard much about Trick (or even the BOA pedals) and the Black Longboards, aesthetically, just looked freaking awesome
This weekend will hopefully let me have a proper chance at seeing how Trick and BOA pedals play

I've been saying this for a while, every manufacturer would improve their pedal selection by offering longboard versions
